POSITION TITLE: Youth Services Librarian
LOCATION/DEPARTMENT: Summit Free Public Library/Youth Services
REPORTS TO: Ann-Marie Aymer, Head of Youth Services
LIBRARY TYPE: Public
HOURLY RATE: $36.55
SCHEDULE: 13 hours per week; Since the Library is open days and evenings, schedules may vary; including Saturday and Sunday rotation

DESCRIPTION: Seeking an enthusiastic, outgoing, and creative librarian to serve at the Youth Services Public Service Desk, provide reference and readers’ advisory services to patrons, maintain collections, and implement age appropriate programs as needed in a very busy
Youth Services department.
REPRESENTATIVE JOB DUTIES:
● Provide reference and reader’s advisory services to the public.
● Develop the collection (including ordering and weeding).
● Develop and implement age appropriate programming as required.
● Provide outreach to local schools and other organizations.
● Assist patrons in using library and technology equipment and resources.
● Create visually appealing library displays.
● Perform other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED SKILLS: Experience working with a variety of age groups, from babies and their
caregivers to teenagers; working knowledge of Canva a plus; bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: ALA accredited Masters of Library Service and NJ Professional Librarian’s Certificate. Must enjoy and be comfortable working with children and young adults. Computer knowledge required.
