The Oakland Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic, outgoing and creative librarian to serve as our part-time Youth Services Librarian. Our ideal candidate will host fun and engaging programs for a variety of age groups, provide reference and readers’ advisory services to patrons, build and maintain collections, and be amenable to helping out wherever assistance is required.
Candidate will:
§ Provide reference and reader’s advisory services to the public.
§ Develop the collection (including ordering and weeding).
Develop and implement age appropriate programming as required.
§ Provide outreach to local schools and other organizations.
§ Assist patrons in using library and technology equipment and resources.
§ Create visually appealing library displays.
§ Perform other duties as assigned.
ALA accredited Masters of Library Service and NJ Professional Librarian’s Certificate is required. Must enjoy and be comfortable working with children and young adults. Computer knowledge required.
$36.17 hour
