Position Summary
Leonia Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic, customer service-oriented individual to work in our Patron Services Department, with a focus on covering the Circulation Desk.
General Responsibilities
Staff the Circulation Desk, checking library materials in and out using LEAP/BCCLS.
Issue library cards and process holds, renewals, and account updates.
Inspect returned materials for damage and assess applicable fees or fines.
Welcome and assist patrons in person and by phone, directing questions to appropriate staff as needed.
Empty the book drop, process returns, and shelve materials accurately.
Assist patrons with printing, copying, scanning, and basic computer use.
Enforce library rules of conduct and policies in a consistent, professional manner.
Assist during library programs and with displays as assigned.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and manage tasks without close supervision.
Basic computer proficiency, including Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
Comfortable working with patrons of all ages.
BCCLS/LEAP experience a plus; bilingual Korean or Spanish a plus.
Requirements
High School graduate or equivalent, plus 1–2 years of customer service and/or library experience.
Ability to lift, push, pull and carry 25-40 lbs on a routine basis.
Scheduled as needed, with priority on covering the Library's busiest hours, which include evenings and Saturdays.
Salary range is $15.92 per hour. Pro-rated PTO included.
Work schedule is approximately 20 - 25 hours a week, including evenings and weekend hours. Must pass a mandatory background check.
