Starting hourly rate $21.32/Part-time/Evenings and weekends primarily
The South Brunswick Library, located halfway between the metropolitan hubs of NYC and
Philadelphia, is home to a diverse, growing community that values all the services the Library
provides. Our staff is dedicated to providing excellent customer service through innovative
programming, community engagement and outreach, and our Mobile Branch.
Our Library is in its final stages of a multi-million construction project to expand and repurpose our existing building. We are excited to bring new team members aboard as we build our next
chapter at the South Brunswick Public Library. Renovations include a new auditorium,
state-of-the art meeting room, expanded teen space, Innovation Lab, and more.
We are seeking a reliable, customer service-oriented individual(s) to assist programming staff in providing programming for all ages in our newly expanded facility. This position provides a crucial role in ensuring the success of our events and presentations. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, be comfortable speaking in front of an audience, and possess knowledge of basic AV equipment and technologies.
The Information Assistant will work collaboratively with other team members, helping to set up for events, troubleshooting any technical issues, and communicating with staff, vendors, presenters and the public. This role will often require independently running a program that was arranged in advance by other team members. This might include arranging furniture according to a set of written instructions, greeting and preparing a guest presenter, welcoming attendees, and moderating audience questions. A flexible schedule is needed and this position will include regular evening and weekend hours. Opportunity exists for additional hours to assist with special or after–hours events.
Primary responsibilities:
Assist programming staff with events, including setup and break down before and after events.
Provide sound system, video and lighting support for events using the Library’s equipment (training provided).
Serve as host for events where a speaker, presenter or performer has been engaged.
Provide technical support during events and presentations, trouble shooting issues in a timely manner.
Greet guests attending library programs, making sure they receive necessary accommodations.
Introduce presenters and performers when necessary from prepared script.
Qualifications:
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Knowledge of various AV equipment and technologies
Familiarity with live streaming platforms
Ability to lift and move heavy equipment
Excellent time management skills
Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and think creatively to find solutions
Ability to work independently and with library staff
Ability to follow both written and oral directions
